Troy Cleland

Funeral Assistant

With a strong work ethic and a lifelong commitment to serving others, Troy Cleland brings dedication, compassion, and a deep sense of community to his role as a Funeral Assistant. Born and raised in New Bern, Troy was instilled with the values of hard work, faith, and service from an early age—principles that continue to guide him each day.

Troy has long been an active and devoted member of his community. He served as a volunteer firefighter with the West New Bern Fire Department and is a member of St. John’s Lodge and the Sudan Shriners. His willingness to give his time and energy to help others reflects his genuine care for the people around him.

Before entering the funeral service field, Troy built a successful career with the NC forestry service, from which he retired. A graduate of Wayne Community College, he also spent time working at a local flower shop, where he first formed connections within the funeral profession. In 2012, after retirement, he was offered a position in funeral service—a role that felt like a natural continuation of his life of service.

As a lifelong local, Troy finds great meaning in walking alongside families he knows and cares about during difficult times. He is committed to ensuring each family receives a personal, compassionate experience, and hopes they leave feeling supported with a true sense of care and connection.
Outside of work, Troy enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, along with their beloved dog and cat. He finds relaxation and joy on the river and loves staying active through fishing, boating, gardening, traveling, and football. Known for always keeping busy, Troy embraces life with energy and gratitude.

Grounded in his faith and guided by a servant’s heart, Troy is honored to support families in his community, offering comfort, familiarity, and a helping hand when it is needed most.
