Reverend Mike was born in Gunnersville, Alabama, and raised in Michigan, where a childhood rooted in church shaped his life and faith. He began attending services at nine and was saved the first time he went—an experience that set him on a path of lifelong ministry and a strong Christian work ethic.
Mike brings five decades of pastoral experience to his role, along with deep, personal ties to funeral service—his mother worked in a funeral home, and a longtime friend, Rex, invited him to join this family-owned funeral home. His wife led him to this community, and together they have made it home. Known for his steady smile and warm presence, Mike has not been without work since he was 13, and he carries a PHD in Christian Education from EBU.
As a chaplain and funeral assistant, Mike finds his greatest fulfillment in meeting families, ministering to their needs, and offering comfort in difficult times. He sees his work as an opportunity to share Jesus, to provide ministry that brings peace, and to ensure families feel cared for and remembered. He hopes those he serves come away knowing that a faithful, compassionate ministry was given on their behalf.
At home, Mike enjoys traveling and golfing, and he treasures time with his wife, daughter, son, and four grandchildren. Their cat, Skeeter-Bug, is a beloved member of the household. His faith community is Antioch Free Will Baptist Church, and his guiding verse is John 17:17, “Sanctify them by your truth, your word is truth.” If asked to describe himself, Mike chooses three words: kind, compassionate, and devoted to showing others Jesus.
