Raised in the Antioch community of New Bern, Jennifer has deep roots in the area and a lifelong connection to the people she now serves. Growing up in her grandparents’ church, she developed a strong foundation of faith and a personal understanding of Jesus and His love. Alongside her spiritual upbringing, her parents instilled in her the values of hard work and financial responsibility—principles that have shaped her life and career.
Jennifer has built meaningful relationships throughout the community over the years, having both lived and worked locally for most of her life. Before entering funeral service, she spent 20 years as an electrical contractor in New Bern, earning her limited electrical license, and later served 23 years with the Board of Education as an accounts payable clerk. Her diverse background reflects her dedication, reliability, and commitment to serving others.
Her journey into funeral service was inspired by Rex and his passion for caring for families. She recognized the opportunity to be part of a ministry that aligned with her own heart for people. Today, she finds great fulfillment in helping families during their time of grief—whether through preparing services or offering comfort and support. For Jennifer, serving others in these moments is both meaningful and deeply rewarding.
Known for her genuine love for people, Jennifer approaches her role with compassion and sincerity. She hopes that every family she serves feels comforted, cared for, and uplifted, and that they can see the love of Jesus reflected in her actions.
Outside of her work, Jennifer is devoted to her family and her faith. She is married to her husband, Michael, a minister, and embraced her role as a minister’s wife at 43. She is a proud stepmother to two and grandmother to four, and also enjoys the companionship of her cat, Skeeter-Bug. In her free time, she enjoys singing in a community gospel choir in New Bern, attending church at Antioch Free Will Baptist, and spending quality time with her family.
Her faith is central to everything she does. She believes that the love of Jesus in her heart allows her to truly love and serve others, and she prays that every family she meets experiences that love. She lives by the words, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” a reflection of the strength and grace she carries into her work each day.
Three words that describe her best: Faithful, Compassionate, Devoted
What she hopes families remember most: That they were genuinely loved, comforted, and cared for during their time of need.
