Toshia Marage Obituary (1981 - 2024) - New Bern, North Carolina

Toshia Marage, known affectionally to her family as "Tosh," was a beacon of strength and resilience who lived her life with an unwavering spirit of generosity, courage, and love. Born in Greenbrae, California on August 3, 1981, and moved several times with her family through the years. Toshia relocated to New Bern, North Carolina thirteen years ago and made it her cherished home. A smart, loving woman with an infectious zest for life, Toshia passed away on August 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and unwavering determination. For many years, Toshia worked diligently as a cashier in the retail industry, a job she performed with a heartfelt dedication that was felt by all who encountered her. In her retirement, Toshia found great joy in her hobbies, which included reading, cooking, and fishing. Her love for animals, especially her loyal dog, Sadie, was immense. But nothing mattered more to Toshia than her son, Levi, who was the center of her universe. In him, she instilled her values of courage and generosity, creating a lasting impact that will continue to resonate. As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." This quote perfectly encapsulates Toshia's approach to life. Toshia was a pillar in her community, using her own experience with diabetes to help others through the Diabetes Association on social media. She was incredibly giving, thoughtful, and caring - a true testament to the power of human kindness. Toshia was a fighter who never gave up, no matter the challenges she faced. Her appreciation for the simple things in life was a beautiful reminder of what truly matters. Toshia was preceded in death by her daughter, Kaleigh Grace Embrick. She is survived by her loving parents, Deanna and Donald Fischer, and her pride and joy, her son Levi; brother, Colton Fischer (Kayla), who she affectionately called "Chicken Wing;" brother, Michael Marage (Cathy); sister, Brandi Maddox (John); nephews, Beau, Bruce, Michael; niece, Emily; uncle, Gary McGee (Karen); aunt and best friend, Christine Linczeski (Dan); grandmother, Jo-Ann Fischer; and William Embrick. She also leaves behind a host of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was a woman of remarkable courage and enduring love, and she will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate to have known her. The family will celebrate Toshia's life with a private gathering in her honor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Toshia's name to your local animal shelter.
