Theresa "Pat" Jones Obituary (1943 - 2025)

It is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to Theresa "Pat" Jones, who passed away on August 5, 2025. Born in Trenton, New Jersey on May 5, 1943, she was an outgoing soul who never met a stranger, making friends wherever she went. Known by most of her friends and family as "Pat", she was an individual who lived her life with enthusiasm and a deep love for her cats. Pat's journey took her from her birthplace in Trenton, New Jersey to Pottsville, Pennsylvania where she spent her childhood. The winds of love and adventure brought her to New Bern, North Carolina, with her first husband, a marine stationed at Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station. It was here in New Bern that she raised her two daughters, and where she would make her home. Pat's career was one marked by service and dedication. She worked in retail for many years, first at Rite Aid drugstore in New Bern and later at Waldenbooks in the local mall, where she brought smiles to customers' faces. In her later years, she worked alongside her late husband, Chuck, in his insurance adjusting business. Pat's love for people was only matched by her love for walking. She was a familiar sight in Downtown New Bern, where she would embark on her daily 3-mile walks. These strolls were not simply a form of exercise for Pat, but a social event where she met many people and their dogs, often regaling her family with tales of the interesting characters she met. A lover of all creatures, Pat had a special place in her heart for her cats, who were her constant companions and brought her immense joy. Pat is survived by her daughters, Stormy Lee (Bryant) and Terri Betz; her brothers, Thomas McClure (Mary Ann) and Gary McClure (Diane); her grandchildren, Ashley Holder (Phil) and Tyler Ryan; and great grandson, Nelson Holder.. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lucy McClure; and her husband, Chuck Jones. Her radiant spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
