Sue Hart Campbell

–

New Bern, North Carolina

With heartfelt remembrance and profound love, we celebrate the life of Sue Hart Campbell, affectionately known by many as “Suzie Q and Mama Sue," born on November 27, 1956, in New Bern, NC. Sue was an embodiment of compassion, courage, and inspiration to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her zest for life was infectious and her warmth and love for others, unending. She was a loving mother, an enthusiastic traveler, a fabulous cook, a gifted craftswoman, and a dedicated servant of her faith. Her journey on this earth came to a peaceful end on August 16, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and inspiration that will forever be etched in our hearts.

Sue's life was a testament to the scripture, "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love" (1 Corinthians 13:13). Sue, along with her husband, Ted Campbell, co-owned Campbell Crown and Bridge, a successful dental lab business that served the community for many years. Upon retirement, Sue's compassionate and courageous nature shone even brighter. Her love for life was reflected in her hobbies, which included ceramics, decorating and arranging flowers, and playing hymns and popular songs on the piano. Sue had a special fondness for her beach home and dear friends at Waterway Resort, Cedar Point, NC.  She loved nature, birds, and her pet chihuahuas. Throughout her life, Sue's home in New Bern was a haven for friends and family, always filled with laughter, love, and her memorable holiday celebrations with elaborate decorations and costumes.

Sue's courageous spirit was evident in her battle with cancer, where she displayed an unwavering positive attitude and a steadfast faith. Her love for her daughter, Holly, her family and friends. and her faith were the cornerstones of her life. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Edna Hart, as well as her brother, Reuben and brother-in-law, Terry Allen.   She is survived by her beloved daughter, Holly Hart Campbell Hancock (Clayton Hancock), whom she cherished immensely; her loving and devoted sisters, Cindy Hart Johnston (Tim) and Teresa Hart Allen; sisters-in-law, Carole Hart and Vera Campbell; as well as her former husband, Ted Campbell. Aunt Sue was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all of her nieces, nephews, and grands. The family deeply appreciates her “bestest” friend, Donna Gay Patterson, who spent weeks providing care and assistance for Sue and Holly during Sue's final stages of cancer. Much gratitude is also extended to the nurses and staff of Craven County Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

A celebration of Sue's life will be on Friday, November 8, 2024 at First Baptist Church of New Bern with Dr. Richard Seagle officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary with the service beginning as the line diminishes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sue's name to the Children and Youth Benevolence Fund at First Baptist Church, 239 Middle Street, New Bern, NC 28560.

In tribute to Sue’s captivating life, we invite you to share your memories and photos on her memorial page. Your stories and pictures will serve as a testament to Sue's inspiring life and will help us all remember the love and joy she brought into our lives.
