Michael Wiley

Michael Barry Wiley, age 76, passed away on April 18, 2025. Michael was born on March 12, 1949 in Pensacola, Florida and grew up in the Askin community of Craven County where he has continued to live. He was the son of the late William Woodrow Wiley and Pauline Wiley Coombe (Jack) and brother to Jerry Wiley (Frances), Keith Wiley, who preceded him in death.

Michael is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Wilson Wiley and their son, Michael Earl "Mike" Wiley; as well as his brother, Jackie Coombe.

Michael retired from Fluor Daniel Construction Company after 24 years of service in Heavy Equipment Operation, most notably operating cranes. His specialty became Nuclear Power Plants which required packing a suitcase for out-of-town shutdowns. Once retired, he returned home and was employed for 10 years at Moen, Inc. where he worked in the maintenance department.

Over the past several years, Michael developed much interest in his scanners and golf carts. He loved and found much joy in assisting with repairs for friends in need. He enjoyed and appreciated those who visited with him.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Bennett Funeral & Cremation Care, 3310 Trent Road, New Bern, NC.
