Karen Moore

Karen Moore of Vanceboro, NC passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 24, 2024 at the age of 63.

Karen is survived by her husband of 24 years, David, children, Jessica Bakken (Chad), Tara Williams (Justin) and Jimmy Grifasi, grandchildren, Dash Bakken, Callie and Colton Williams, and sister, Katherine Oliver (Al). She is preceded in death by her mother and father, “Luddy” and Bessie Marsh.

As a Richmonder for the majority of her life, Karen graduated from Manchester High School in 1980. She continued her education at the Medical College of Virginia earning her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree in 1985 and her Master’s of Science in Nursing degree in 2011. Over her almost 40-year career as a nurse, Karen held several different positions, from Emergency Room nurse to Nursing Director to Informatics Specialist, all of which she was proud of.

Everyone who knew Karen knew of her love for being on the water; whether she was relaxing on the beach, fishing on her boat or taking pictures of the sunset. While she enjoyed every beach she visited, Cape Hatteras was by far the one she loved the most. Karen also loved spending time with her family, her children, that she was so proud of, but most of all her grandchildren, who always put a smile on her face.

A memorial service is scheduled for January 11, 2025 at 11:00 am at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 9400 Redbridge Road North Chesterfield, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Carolina Coastal Federation.
