Joe Parisher

–

New Bern, North Carolina

With love and fond remembrance, we celebrate the life of Billy Joe Parisher, born on September 28, 1942, living much of his early years in Jamesville. Known for his loving nature and supportive presence, he was a beacon of light in the lives of those around him. His family and friends knew him as Joe, a name that became synonymous with laughter, reliability, and warmth. He was a man who could fix most anything, a testament to his years as a mechanic with the Weyerhaeuser Company. His time in the U.S. Army, serving with honor in the Vietnam War, shaped him into a resilient and steadfast individual who carried these qualities throughout his life.

Joe was a beloved member of the Faith Free Will Baptist Church, where his faith remained a guiding force in his life. His love of the outdoors was unmatched and enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his grandchildren. His sense of humor was infectious, a characteristic cherished by his family and friends. Proverbs 17:22 says, "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine," and Joe was indeed good medicine to those around him. His weekly breakfast gatherings with friends at the Ghent Sandwich Shop were a highlight of his week, a testament to his love for community and fellowship. The joy he brought to these simple gatherings was a testament to his funny and engaging personality.

Joe is survived by his daughter, June Edwards (Paul), and his grandchildren, Brad Edwards (Tara), Cody Edwards, and Katie White (Kyle), and great grandchildren, Eva Edwards and Jase Edwards. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hardee and Mabel Parisher, and his beloved wife of 49 years, Ann Parisher. His family mattered most to him, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and laughter.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, 21 Dec 2024 at 10:00am at the Faith Free Will Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am, also at the church. The address is 250 Sand Hill Road, New Bern, North Carolina, 28560. He will then be laid to rest at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.

We invite you to leave memories and upload photos of Joe on the memorial page. His life was a testament to love, laughter, and resilience, and we encourage you to share your experiences and memories of him to keep his spirit alive. His life was a celebration of every moment, and we hope that you will join us in commemorating a life well-lived.
