Jimmie "Steve" Lee Obituary (1951 - 2024)

We mark the passing of Jimmie Stephen Lee, known affectionately to many as Steve, who departed this life on June 22, 2024. Born on July 29, 1951, in Lowland, North Carolina, Steve resided in Pamlico County for his entire life. Steve was a constant source of comfort, support, and love to all who were fortunate enough to know him. A loving father, a reliable friend, and a witty conversationalist, Steve found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved mowing the grass and viewed it as an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature and the satisfaction of a job well done. He also cherished ferry rides with his daughters when they were young, creating precious memories that they will hold dear forever. Steve was a social butterfly, always ready with a quick joke or a warm hug. He understood the importance of staying in touch with family and friends, and he made it a priority in his life. As the writer A.A. Milne once said, "You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes." And that's what Steve did. Steve was the kind of man who would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His tender heart was evident in his everyday actions. He leaves behind his girls, Jennifer (Barry) Hardison and Julianne Lee; his grandson Antonio Carmon; his sisters, Ruby Holton and Pat Robinson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Jessie Lee, his brothers Gene, Bill, and Ray Lee, and his sister, Mertie Bonner. He will be laid to rest with loved ones at the family cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Steve's memory to assist his family with final expenses. As we remember and celebrate the life of Steve Lee, we realize that even in his absence, his loving spirit continues to shine through those who knew him.
