Glenda Games Hicks

–

Trent Woods, North Carolina

We take this moment to celebrate and reflect upon the life of Glenda Games Hicks, a loving, loyal, and supportive soul. Glenda was born to Roy and Annie Games on September 3, 1939, in Pamlico County, North Carolina and was a proud graduate of New Bern High School. Glenda made a significant impact in the community as the owner and operator of Glenda's Clothing Store, where she served and befriended countless customers over the years. Glenda was a woman of substance, with her authenticity and directness endearing her to many.

In her free time, Glenda lived for UNC college basketball, passionately following the games and sharing her excitement with those around her. An avid beachgoer, she found joy in the simple pleasure of collecting shells. Glenda also had a penchant for shopping on the QVC network and playing Bridge with her friends. As a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Glenda took delight in attending Shriner events with her husband and friends. She also enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. Above all, she deeply cherished her family and the warmth of her home, creating a haven where her children and grandchildren always felt safe, loved, and cherished.

Glenda was a longtime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where she married her husband, Jimmie, on January 17, 1959 -- the beginning of 60 years of marriage and dedication to one another until his passing in 2019. Glenda was a beacon of strength and dignity, facing life with an unwavering spirit, and a sense of humor that lightened the hearts of those around her.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise Hicks Hardeman (Mark); her son, Jimmie B. Hicks, Jr.; her cherished grandchildren, Matt Hardeman (Samantha), Ross Hardeman (Meredith); also Jacob Hicks (Tori) and Bailey Gaskins (Kyle) and their mother, Beth Hicks; as well as her beloved great grandchildren, Ryan and Lucy Hardeman, James Hardeman, Banks and Caroline Hicks.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2311 Elizabeth Avenue, New Bern, North Carolina, 28562, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm with Pastor Benjamin Wolf officiating. She will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Glenda's name to the Shriner's Hospital for Children (www.donate.shrinerschildrens.org).

We invite all those who knew and loved Glenda to share their memories of her on her memorial page and upload photos that captured her spirit. Her life was a tapestry of love, loyalty, and unwavering support, and your memories will help keep her legacy alive.
