George Anderson

George Edgar Anderson, 88, of New Bern, passed away at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, North Carolina, on August 21, 2026.

George was born on November 27, 1937, in Goldsboro, North Carolina. He lived his life with a positive heart, endless patience, and a quiet strength that never wavered. He did not know anger—only understanding, perseverance, and love.

He worked without complaint and gave without hesitation, always putting his family first. Loving them was his greatest purpose and his greatest joy. Though he is no longer with us, his kindness, warmth, and the love he poured into his family will live forever in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his infant son, Bradley Wyatt Anderson; his parents, William “Will” Edgar Anderson and Estelle Wiggins Anderson; brothers, Jack Anderson, Joe Anderson, and Billy Anderson; sister, Judy Gladson; and half-sister, Annie Marie Anderson.

George is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carolyn Holton Anderson; his sons, George “Terry” Anderson and wife, June, and Christopher “Todd” Anderson; his grandchildren, Kerra Lynn Anderson, Terra Anderson Fletcher and husband, Stephen, Zackary Wyatt Anderson, and wife, Mackenzie; his sisters, Annette Warren and Frances Kite; his step-mother, Pearl Hill; and half-sister, Letha Ryan.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Broad Creek Christian Church, 45 Olympia Road, New Bern. Service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Scott Askew officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Hollywood Cemetery following the service.
