Douglas "Doug" Watson

–

New Bern, North Carolina

Douglas Earl Watson, 70, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, in Greenville, North Carolina.

Born on May 11, 1955, in New Bern, North Carolina, Doug lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Doug dedicated 27 years of his professional life to Cayton Plumbing, where he became a cornerstone of the company. Known for his exceptional work ethic and unmatched efficiency, Doug consistently delivered high-quality results that earned him the admiration of colleagues and the lasting respect of his former boss, who often referred to him as his best employee. His commitment to excellence and pride in his craft left a lasting impression on all who worked alongside him.

Outside of work, Doug found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful connections. He was an avid golfer who cherished time spent on the course with his buddies. He also enjoyed spending time in the woods hunting, where he found peace in the wilderness and the beauty of nature. Sundays were reserved for cheering on his beloved Los Angeles Rams—a tradition that brought him great excitement and camaraderie. A passionate home cook, Doug took pride in preparing meals nearly every night, ensuring not only that he was well-fed but that those around him shared in the warmth of his kitchen.

Doug’s greatest legacy lies in the love he gave so freely to those closest to him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Andrea Watson; his son, Hunter Watson; his daughter, Marisa Tanner, and son-in-law, Michael Tanner. He was a proud grandfather to Nevaeh, Lexie, and Kadence Tanner.

Doug’s deep sense of responsibility and care ensured that his family never went without. He was always ready to lend a hand or offer support without hesitation.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Weatherington; his father, Eldin Watson Sr.; and his brother, Eldin Watson Jr., whose values helped shape the man he became.

Doug will be remembered as a kind-hearted soul who gave selflessly and loved deeply. His presence brought comfort and strength to those around him. May his memory bring peace and inspiration to all who knew him.

A memorial gathering will be held on November 13, 2025 at 3:00 P.M., at Greenleaf Memorial Park, 900 River Road.
