Dottie Everington

Dottie Miller Everington went home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2024. She joined her beloved parents, Upton and Sudie Miller, and her brothers, Dell Miller and Thomas Miller, in eternal rest.

Leaving behind to honor her legacy and memories are Charlie Everington, and her cherished children April Johnson, Kimberly Laughinghouse (Joseph), Phillip Everington (Jocelyn), and niece/daughter Tina Cheek. She was a loving and devoted grandmother to Amber, Dylan, Donovan, Nicholas, Tyler, Katherine, and Donnie and a proud great-grandmother to Claire and Bennett. She is survived by her sister Barbara Salter (Jay), sister-in-law Linda Burton, and many extended family members. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Junior Johnson and by her mother-in-law, Aletheia Everington.

Born and raised in Newport, NC, Dottie was always surrounded by her family, who were the center of her world. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Dottie’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Amariah Garner Memorial Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Family and Friends can pay their respects at the Everington’s home after the service at 30 Cherokee Drive, Havelock.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Dottie’s name to Pruitt Health Hospice & Palliative Care or to the Dementia and Alzheimer’s Foundation (alzfdn.org).
