Diane Daugherty Baker

–

New Bern, North Carolina

With heartfelt affection, we remember the life of our beloved Diane Daugherty Baker, born on March 17, 1949, in Craven County, North Carolina. Diane was a radiant beacon of love and laughter, whose presence brought warmth to every room she entered. Her sense of humor was infectious, sparking joy in all around her. She was a loving mother, a cherished grandmother, and an inspiring woman whose memory will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who knew her.

Diane was a lifelong resident of the Spring Garden community, where she cultivated not only beautiful gardens but also strong relationships. Her green thumb was only surpassed by the size of her heart. As a compassionate soul, she devoted her time to her beloved boys and her grandchildren, who were the center of her universe. She found joy in dancing, a passion she shared with her late husband, Bill, and she was known to cook up a storm in the kitchen, her meals served with a side of love. Diane's cakes, decorated with as much care as she gave to her family, were the highlight of many gatherings.

Throughout her life, Diane served her Lord with undeniable devotion. As a longtime member of Bethany Christian Church in Jasper, she was a pillar of her faith community. Her faith was a wellspring of strength, the foundation of her loving and inspiring spirit. The verse from Proverbs 31:25, "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future," encapsulates Diane's spirit perfectly.

Diane was preceded in death by her mother, Clifton Aileen Daugherty, and her father, William Daugherty, Jr.; her beloved husband, William "Bill" Baker; her cherished granddaughter, Hailey; and her sister, Ellen Majewski.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Paschal (Wendy) and Andy Paschal (Sherry), who carry the strength of their mother's love forward. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory, her grandchildren, Savannah Paschal, Alex Paschal Boyd (Drew), Stephanie Brown (Brandon), Tyler Holland (Rachel), Star Paschal, and Kaylee Paschal; her great grandchildren, Lily Boyd, Josh Boyd, Addison Brown, Odin Brown, Adam Prince; and brother, William "Frankie" Daugherty, III (Kay).

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Bethany Christian Church (Jasper), followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Mr. Jason Jones officiating. She will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Memorial Park.

As we remember Diane, let us continue to celebrate her life by sharing stories, laughter, and memories of the moments we spent with her. Let us honor her compassion, her laughter, her love for her family, and her devotion to her faith. We encourage you to share your memories and upload photos to Diane's memorial page, where her legacy will continue to inspire.
