Devonta Lanier Green Obituary (1997 - 2025)

It is with both heavy hearts and warm memories that we commemorate the remarkable life of Devonta Lanier Green, who graced this world with his loving presence from December 28, 1997, until June 27, 2025. Born in Greenville, NC, and residing in the Jasper community, Devonta was a beacon of joy, resilience, and loyalty to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Devonta's spirit was a radiant force, illuminating the lives of his family and friends. His resilience was an inspiration, his laughter a cure, and his presence a gift. His love for his family was boundless, and his loyalty to his friends unwavering. His passions were simple yet profound—good music, the tranquillity of fishing in nearby creeks, and the joy of cooking for his beloved family. Whether it was his special fried chicken or his mouthwatering chicken and rice, Devonta's cooking was as much a testament to his love for his family as his words and actions. He received his education at West Craven High School, and his memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his lifelong friends, many of whom he has had since elementary school. Devonta is survived by his loving parents, David Green and Shineka Mitchell, who will forever cherish the memories of their resilient, loving and funny son. Also left to cherish his memory is his sister, Shadaviah Green; his brother, David Green, Jr.; his beloved "dog nephews," Lewy and Chewy; and a host of extended family and friends whom he loved. In remembering Devonta, let us celebrate his life, his laughter, and his legacy.
