Denver Cooper

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Denver Lewis Cooper, born on July 14, 1978, in New Bern, North Carolina. On June 10, 2025, just shy of his 47th birthday, Denver left us, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and thoughtfulness. His gentle spirit and unwavering compassion will forever be imprinted on the hearts of those who loved him.

Denver was a man of simple pleasures and profound kindness. After graduating from West Craven High School in 1997, he Craven Community College, where he earned his designation as a Certified Nursing Assistant, fulfilling his calling to serve and care for others, particularly the elderly. Denver's generosity was felt not only by his clients, but by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His love for his family, his cat Jake, a good McRib sandwich, and a Pepsi-Cola were emblematic of his appreciation for life's simple joys.

Denver's life was a testament to the power of love and compassion. A lifelong resident of New Bern, Denver grew up in the Bridgeton area. He was beloved by his family and the friends who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Darryl and Alma Cooper. He is survived by his sisters, Deborah Cooper and Tonya Sutton; his friend and caregiver, Connie Ormond; as well as his nieces and nephews, Lindsey Cooper, Hayden Jean, Matthew Sutton, Patrick Sutton, and Micheal Sutton.

Despite the profound sadness brought by his passing, we choose to celebrate Denver's life and honor his memory by continuing to embody the virtues of love, generosity, and thoughtfulness that he exemplified.

A celebration of Denver's life will be 5 p.m. on his birthday, Monday, July 14, 2025 at Union Point Park in Downtown New Bern.
