Carolyn Lee Griffin, a spirited and loving woman who was known for her zest for life, passed away on August 4, 2025. Born on September 30, 1941, in the Cayton community, Carolyn was a beacon of light to all who knew her. Her strength, determination, and jovial nature left a lasting mark on the world and enriched the lives of those lucky enough to know her. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, to Carolyn, family was not just important, it was everything.
Carolyn’s life was filled with compassion and joy, and she found fulfillment in simple pleasures. She was a woman who enjoyed the beauty of White Lake, the thrill of a good mystery novel, the trips with her close friends Robert and Betty Parsons, and the community of the local beauty shop. Her love for shopping was only surpassed by her love for finding a bargain. Carolyn found her true calling as a homemaker, dedicating her life to the care and nurturing of her family. Her infectious spirit and ceaseless love made her home a sanctuary filled with warmth and happiness.
A faithful Christian, Carolyn enjoyed attending services with her church family at New Testament Baptist Church. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and she found solace and joy in the teachings of the Bible.
Carolyn is survived by her beloved son, Leslie Griffin, Jr. (Sonya); cherished granddaughter, Rachel Griffin (Mitch Wethington); and several special friends who she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Leslie Lee Griffin, Sr.; her parents, William and Gracie Lewis; and her siblings, McCoy Lewis and Audrey Virgie.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 2:00pm at the New Testament Baptist Church, 126 Neuse Road, Kinston, North Carolina, 28501. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 3:00pm with Pastor Tim Daniel officiating. She will then be laid to rest at the Griffin Family Cemetery in Ft. Barnwell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ft. Barnwell Vol. Fire Department or to the Ft. Barnwell Rescue Squad.
As we celebrate her life and honor her memory, we invite all to share their treasured memories and pictures of Carolyn on her memorial page. May her spirit continue to live on through the love and laughter she shared with us all.
