New Bern, North Carolina

Brenda Hollingsworth Robertson, of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away on August 24, 2026 surrounded by her family. Born on January 16, 1948, in Erwin, North Carolina, Brenda was a beacon of strength and love to everyone who knew her. Her family remembers her as a loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother, and granny. Her loving spirit was evident in her devotion to her family and her faith in Christ. She was a servant at heart, and her lifelong dedication to her faith manifested itself in her love for the Lord and spending time with Him each day in devotion, worship and prayer. She was also a devoted member of New Life Church where she actively participated in ministry through the choir as well as taking care of children in the nursery.

Brenda spent her younger years in Erwin and graduated from Erwin High School. She then committed her life to creating a warm and inviting home for her family. Brenda found joy in simple pleasures. She loved reading, playing (and winning) scrabble, and cards with the family. The mountains held a special place in her heart, and she fondly remembered the times she and Bill enjoyed there. Brenda's love for her family also extended to her grandchildren whom she loved watching play sports and spending time with. Her love for family and faith in Christ were the pillars that guided her through life.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 35 years, William "Bill" Robertson; children, William "Bill" Robertson, Jr. (Ruth), Kevin Wright (Mitzi), Chrystal Harrell (John), Rebecca "Becky" Benton (John), Chad Wright (Michelle), and Nathan Wright (Melissa); grandchildren, Justyn Robertson, Brandyn Robertson, Kyle Wright, Joanna Lewis, Amber Harrell, Alyssa Harrell, Katlyn Benton, J.L. Benton, Madison Mote, Carson Wright, Elijah Wright, Carolina Wright, Tyler Wright, and Lacie Wright; and six great grandchildren. Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Haywood Hollingsworth, her mother, Neva Hollingsworth, and her sisters, Janet Bryant, Kay Wilson, and Mary Ellen Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at New Life Church, followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. with her grandson, Pastor Carson Wright, and Pastor Scott Coghill officiating. Brenda will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, it was Brenda's wish that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org)

We invite those who knew and loved Brenda to share their memories and upload photos to her memorial page. May we all find comfort in remembering the remarkable legacy Brenda leaves behind. Her love, kindness, and spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
