Beryl Nulph

Beryl Evelyn (Signor) Nulph, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Grantsbrook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Grantsboro, North Carolina. She was born in Newark New Jersey, on January 19, 1932, to Harry Allyn Signor and Mary Eames.

Beryl graduated from Arms Academy High School in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, in 1950. She arrived in the middle of her junior year, and her classmates fondly remembered her as "our flashy new head twirler." It didn't take long for her singing talent to be noticed, and she became known as the class singer. Beryl loved to dabble in local community musical productions and later became a dedicated member of the Sweet Adelines singing group.

In addition to her vocal talents, she had a flair for cooking and baking, which she shared by organizing several regional community cookbooks and for years running her own wedding cake business.

Her enthusiasm for early aviation was fueled by her father's adventures in biplane barnstorming and her admiration for groundbreaking women pilots like Amelia Earhart.

Beryl’s passion for genealogy was another impressive aspect of her life. She uncovered her family’s connections to early settlers in New England during the 1600’s as well as Continental soldiers in the Revolutionary War, which earned her a Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) membership. Not only did she delve into her own roots, but she also joyfully assisted others in their genealogical journeys as a consultant.

Beryl was preceded in death by her husbands, William Nulph and Phillip Smith, as well as her parents, Harry and Mary. She is survived by her sisters Shirley and Mary Jane, her children Sharon, Bradford, and Randy, along with five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, as well as her best friends of many years Alice and Norm.

Beryl will be missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
