Anthony "Tony" White

–

Cove City, North Carolina

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather "Poppe", veteran, and friend. Anthony "Tony" White left us on January 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and sincere companionship. Born on April 19, 1948, in Kinston, North Carolina, Tony was known for his versatility, a knack for making friends, and an infectious spirit that spread joy to everyone around him. His life was as vibrant as his personality; filled with colorful stories, unforgettable memories, and the indomitable spirit of a man who truly lived life to the fullest.

Tony spent his formative years in Dover before moving to Cove City, where he lived a life of dedication and service. He was not just an Account Representative at Star Foods for 31 years, but was also a cherished colleague who was loved by his customers and peers alike. His dedication to his work mirrored his time in the U.S. Army, where he served faithfully and became a veteran of the Vietnam War. Despite his many accomplishments, what mattered most to Tony was his family. He was a loving husband to Diane, always striving to provide, protect, and cherish the life they built together.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tony was a man of many passions. He loved hunting and fishing, and never missed an opportunity to share his fascinating stories. His love for conversation was infectious, and he never met a stranger; every meeting was an opportunity to make a new friend. In his later years, he discovered a new passion: spending time at his camper with his wife, Diane, at River's Edge Family Campground on the Pamlico River. There, he found peace and tranquility by the water, casting his fishing line and watching the sunsets paint the sky with hues of hope and serenity.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Diane; son, Derrick White (Amy); grandsons, Austin, AJ, and Preston White; granddaughters, Natalie and Hannah White; sister, Linda Sparrow; and his beloved dogs, "Maggie" and "Roxy." He is preceded in death by his parents, Dalton and Merle White; infant son, Jamie; and his brother, Jack White.

A service to remember and honor Tony's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 in the Community Building located at Wintergreen F.W.B. Church with Pastor Calvin Heath and Jason Jones officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.

Those who knew Tony, even if just for a little while, lost a shining light in their lives. He will be greatly missed but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. We encourage friends and family to leave memories and upload photos to Tony's memorial page, as we continue to celebrate his life and the love he shared with us all.

Bennett Funeral & Cremation Care is honored to serve the family and friends of Anthony "Tony" White.
