New Bern, North Carolina
Angela “Angie” Mitchell of Reelsboro, NC joined her parents in Heaven to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on December 24, 2025.
Angie was born to Horace and Wanda Williams on June 19, 1963. She was the fourth of five children. Although she grew up without a lot of material possessions, the love Angie’s family had for each other was immense. The strength, courage and work ethic her father instilled in her along with the generous, kind and loving spirit she was gifted from her mother molded her into an amazing adult.
On July 20, 1979, Angie married Melvin Mitchell. Over the next forty-six years they celebrated many victories, struggles and overcame many obstacles. Through it all their love remained steadfast and they stood by each other. They have one daughter, Michelle.
Michelle blessed Angie with a grandson, Dominic (Nic). Nic stole Angie’s heart from day one. The two had a very special connection and Angie loved to do whatever she could to bring a smile to his face and joy to his heart.
Not only is Angie survived by her husband, Melvin, daughter, Michelle and grandson Nic, but also her siblings, Jean (Glenn) Connor of Kinston, Anna (Dewitt) Sawyer of Reelsboro, Pamela Collins of Bayboro and Horace “HL” (Jamie) Williams Jr of New Bern and George Jones of Bayboro, her son in love. She also had a big extended family of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and chosen family that loved her dearly.
Angie’s life was all about her family. She kept in contact with all of them. She was there to celebrate milestones in all of their lives, she was there when someone just needed to talk, she was there to just have fun and play in the pool, she was there when they were sick, she was there when they were mad at each other, she was there to bring them back together, she was there when they were near and she was there when they were far away. Angie treated every member of her family as though they were the most important person in her life.
Angie’s family and friends have heavy hearts with the loss of such a special person, but at the same time are so happy to know that she has reunited with her loving parents in her Heavenly home for eternity where she will no doubt continue her legacy of loving on every person she meets.
Angie’s memorial service will be at Reelsboro Christian Church on Friday, January 2, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
