Angela Watkins

Angela Dawn Watkins, known affectionately by family and friends as Angie, completed her earthly journey on October 30, 2024. Born in New Bern, NC on August 29, 1969, to Shirley and the late Alan Jerome, Angela was a beacon of compassionate strength, resilience, and laughter. Her witty humor and loyal nature made her a beloved figure, and her ability to weave engaging stories into captivating novels reflected her unique spirit.

Angie married the love of her life, Gerald Watkins, and together they made their home in Greenville, North Carolina. They were blessed with three daughters, Samantha, Kristina, and Bryanna, who were the center of Angie's universe. She was a dedicated wife and mother, pouring her love and wisdom into her family. Her professional journey led her to the Law Office of Michelle K. Jerome in New Bern, where she served as a legal assistant. Angie found immense satisfaction in this role, demonstrating her resilience and commitment to helping others. Beyond her professional life, Angie was an amateur novelist and an avid reader, finding solace and joy in the pages of a good book.

Angie is survived by her devoted husband of 25 years, Gerald Watkins; her cherished daughters, Samantha Grimsley (Justin), Kristina Hill, and Bryanna Watkins; her loving mother, Shirley Sutton Jerome; and her siblings, Ginger Denisov (Matt) and Steven Jerome (Michelle). She was preceded in death by her dear father, Alan Jerome, and grandparents, Ronald and Bennie Sutton and Harry and Edith Jerome.

Angie was a woman of incredible resilience, a witty conversationalist, and a loyal friend and family member. Her laughter and love will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. As we remember Angela, we celebrate her life and the beautiful memories she gifted us.

Angie will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Memorial Park in a private ceremony.
