New Bern, North Carolina
Alexander Midgett, a generous, loving, and talented soul, passed away on June 18, 2025. Born in the quaint community of Vandemere, North Carolina, on September 5, 1954, to Pardee and Annie Midgette. Alexander was a beacon of loyalty and dedication. Known affectionately as “Alex” or “Elk” to his friends and loved ones, he was a man of many talents and boundless love for his family. Although his heart was never far from Vandemere, life took him to New Bern, where he resided in his later years soaking up the simple joys of life.
Alexander's career as an electrician with PCS Phosphate was a testament to his dedication and hard work. After 38 years of service, he ventured into retirement with the same energy, spending joyful moments with friends at Bojangles, Union Point Park, and the Habitat for Humanity resale store. His love for music was contagious, and he was known to lift spirits with his singing and songwriting. A longtime member of Saint Peter Missionary Baptist Church, Alexander's faith was a guiding light in his life. As the Bible says, "Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:23).
In his battle with cancer, Alexander showcased his strength and resilience. He was the patriarch of his family, a beacon of wisdom, and a source of comic relief. His candid honesty and humor were his tools for imparting life lessons and making a lasting impact on those around him.
Alexander is survived by his loving wife, Karen Midgett; his children, Melanie Burton (James), Chris Gilliam (Gloria), Bryant Hawkins (Larissa), Alex Midgett Jr. (Lakevia), Annie Kim (Yong), Ty-Quan Baucom, Daniel Fisher (Kamilla), Ke-sha W.
